Club photo competitions take place on the third Wednesday of each month. They are intended to encourage participation as an interest, hobby and means of self-expression. Through the competitions, members can improve their photographic skills and widen the scope of their imagination through positive feedback. The competitions also allow members to share their specific areas of expertise and experience.
Each member chooses from one of two competition classifications: beginners or experienced. We ask that you stay with that decision for the full year and reevaluate your decision the following fall. The top winner from the beginner's class will automatically move to the standard classification the next year.
The Erie Shores Photography Club defines a beginner as one who shoots primarily in an “auto” or “program” mode and has a basic knowledge of photo composition, such as “rule of thirds,” “leading lines,” “S Curves,” etc. Any member in the beginners' level whose average score is 20 or higher will move up to the standard classification the following year. The beginning class is designed for those that are new to photography and want to ease into the competitions.
